i need help with my computer screen resolution.

i have a hp pavillon laptop with video card NVIDIA GEFORCE GO6150, i have a multiboot xp/vista/7. i have a problem with the screen resolution in windows 7, i set the resolution to 1280*800(recommended) but everytime i restart or log off the pc the resolution is changed to 800*600. i set the same resolution 1280*800 in vista and it works fine. i have the latest version of the driver installed, i dont know what to with it anymore. please any help will be appreciate.

You need locate and install Win7 drivers for that vid chip...

i already updated the driver to the latest version, now every time i try to update the driver windows tell me that i already have the latest version of the driver installed.

Bah.. yeah. There is an nvidia driver that windows uses.. it's an old one. That's why it might be saying you have the latest.. it's in c:\windows\system32 and maybe also in c:\windows\inf (hidden folder).

Steps for setting resolution for windows 7
1.Open Display Settings by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Appearance and Personalization, clicking Personalization, and then clicking Display Settings.
2.Under Resolution, move the slider to the resolution you want, and then click Apply.

thanks but i already know that, the resolution keep changing to 800*600 everytime i reboot.

Run msconfig and do a selective startup (disable everything from loading) and reboot. Does the problem still occur?

yes the problem is still there. i dont know if this have something to do with my multiboot because i installed the same windows version on 2 other computers and everything work fine on them. i just noticed that the system does not save my restore point either, i think im gonna reinstall windows.

Out of curiosity, can you give me some more information about startup files and services you are running?

ok i did a clean install so i dont have too much junk installed other than; bitdefender AV, REVO unistaller, 7-zip,itunes, vlc,firefox.
