    Problems with scroller
    « on: May 03, 2010, 07:48:12 AM »
    Hello,
I have a HP laptop with Vista. When the box opens to choose from list, for example adding an attachment to an email, I cannot scroll down to pick item using my mouse or the mouse thing installed on the labop. I have scanned for viruses using Norton 360 and Windows Defender. I gave gone back to a restore point, but it was "not successful." I dont know how it happened and I need help fixing it. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you so much

    1) Please do not post your question more than once.
    2) The title of the other thread is actually more descriptive. It seems it's not just that you cannot select something, but the cursor jumps to the top. You should describe your problem in DETAIL.
    3) It may indeed be malware. Follow the instructions here: http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php/topic,46313.0.html

Thank you. I only posted twice because i wasn't sure if it should go under virus or Windows forums. But, I won't post like that again, I am sorry. Thus far, I have tried the suggestions, but it still isn't working.

So you've posted the logs in the malware forum? Good - someone will help you there.

Yes, I tried everything in the link
        the link instructions say:

        Quote
Below are steps to begin the malware removal process. The steps will produce three logs which are requested to be added in your post.

That is, you are supposed to start a thread in the malware forum for malware issues. You haven't done so. you have no threads in the malware forum.

On the other hand, I don't know how this could be said to be malware, I'm not even clear on the problem myself:

I have scanned for viruses using Norton 360 and Windows Defender.

We should not use Norton 360 and Windows Defender  at the same time. Norton 360 is excellent. Usually Windows Defender is turned off automatically when we install  Norton 360.  Check to make sure and/or turn off Windows Defender manually.

            http://forums.techarena.in/networking-security/1170509.htm

"I have recently installed norton 360. but before doing that I had a problem with windows defender as it said that new updates were not possible, and an error code appeared. I scanned my pc thoroughly for viruses but there were none.
All my problems were solved once i downloaded a trial version of norton 360.Now windows defender has automatically been turned off. Just one qs. is my laptop(vista 32 bit) safe with just norton 360 protecting it."

I read the instructions again. I said to post in my forum log unless instructed otherwise by my helper. Is there somewhere else you would like me to post? If so, please tell me where.

                Thank you
