I would like to install a clean 64bit version of lucid lynx or other, and I already have an upgraded Ubuntu 10.04 32bit which for some reason won't let me build a driver for my wireless card even though I've gotten it to work before on 64bit version. I have two options that I know of, if anyone can suggest alternatives, or if this is on the wrong thread, please let me know. I can delete the Ubuntu partition (scary because I won't be able to get into windows 7) and install Ubuntu and thus re-install GRUB and everything *should* be okay, or I can restore the MBR following this
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=508927 or if anyone knows a better guide or mbr restore method, like for-instance booting a recovery cd and clicking on fix problems stopping windows from starting.
I'll post more information if needed. I just don't know how to determine my boot device #, and also I would like to add that my I plan on using windows 7 disc management to delete the Ubuntu partition once I am done restoring the MBR because it seems like a little less work then booting the live cd, unless it's less safe and someone recommends using g parted instead. Also, on a side note, I was wondering what would happen if I started the vista loader partition. Or if I could just delete that, I'll probably keep, but I hate vista. Just curious as to what would happen.
