I have two drives C: and D: and want to reformat the C: drive.

I have some documents in notepad.

If i backup the notepad into d: drive ( by cut and paste notepad into d: drive),

can i later retrive all the files of notepad (after reforatting and reinstalling windows in c: drive)?

If not , how can i backup all contents of notepad?

this i am asking bcos previously i had done the same thing but then i could access the notepad ionly, and no files within it.

You seems to do a lot of cut& paste....why not save them to disks!

If you plan on copying the notpad.exe file to you D drive then you reformat the c drive you will lose all your files. You need to copy the individual files. Do a search for *.txt and copy those files to you d drive. When you rebuild your computer remember to only format c: partition not the whole drive.  I would also do what Merlin said copy them to disk to be on the safe side.
