    Outlook 2000 User Name Keeps Inserting

    So I get an e-mail, and I want to forward it with some minor edits. But wherever I place the cursor between two words, my Outlook username, blue and in brackets, automatically inserts itself ahead of the text I am typing. How do I turn this feature off?

      What are you using now, Merlin? BTW, thanks for the link, but finding the solution to my problem there is like looking for a needle in a haystack. I'll do it, but if anyone has a ready answer I would be much obliged.

      I tend to avoid oe..<like the plague>...and use the isp webmail>> to save bunging up my diskspace...let them have the spam and storage headaches.....after all you pay for the service....dont you!

        I do not use Outlook, but can you not reset it to its default values?

          No such animal, Raptor. However, I found the problem. There is an option under the Advanced button in E-Mail Preferences, which allows you to turn off something called Automatic Name Checking. This is automatically checked "on" when Outlook is installed. Uncheck it and the problem disappears.  What practical purpose it serves is beyond me.
