    Exporting photos to websites/forums/facebook
    « on: May 23, 2010, 03:09:56 PM »
I need kindergarten, steps, 1, 2, 3; or 1a, 1b, 1c,  2, 2a, 2b - etc.  and have had people try to guide me over the phone, but 'we' ever succeeded.  It seems so complicated.  And I could not write down each step, so that I could follow it until it became second nature.

I have a 2007 Dell Inspiron 530, Intel Pentium Dual Core processor, operating Windows XP Home Edition.  I don't think that makes any difference.

I have Picasa 3 photo software.

I need step by step directions on how to export photos from Picasa 3 to online forums, (posting an avatar photo of myself, for instance), to facebook, or other websites;  any photo I wish to transfer onto the forum or facebook.

I've searched for a book or on-line book or instructions I could print off and follow.  But I emphasize "detailed steps" for if you say, reduce photo size to x,y,z, I need to know HOW TO DO THAT,  etc.    Is this an impossible question to answer?   I've spent hours searching for help - and Picasa has not helped me!
Most appreciable and grateful if anyone can help.   Thanks in advance. -- exercising faith here   :-[

No, there is no "simple" way to do it.

Every website works differently, so the method of uploading an image is different for every website.

        It is really quite simple.

Upload the pictures to an image host server like photobucket.com:

        http://photobucket.com/

        Photobucket is free.

From Photobucket you may place the photo on any site on the internet.

        For example:

Click the image icon above   and copy the image address from under the the picture at photobucket.com.
This site provides the  image tags  and so does photobucket.  We only need one set.

              Marvinengland,
I downloaded photobucket.com but find no clear steps "I can follow" to download the photo of my choice onto www.smokersforums.co.uk to be my Avitar photo.  For this I don't want facebook or any other forum, but the website above, to download this as my Avitar photo.  I can't find clear steps how to do THAT.

You don't "download" it, you embed a link to it in your forum post.  Go back and look at marvinengland's post where he included an image as an example.  Look at the code starting with brackets around img and ending with brackets around /img.  The code between those "tags" was provided by photobucket.com.

See here (http://www.smokersforums.co.uk/faq.php?faq=vb_board_usage#faq_avatar) on how to add the image as your avatar.
