    PLEASE HELP!
    « on: June 01, 2010, 04:44:02 PM »
    Hello all,
First off I'll start off my stating that I have a Toshiba laptop with a Window Vista Operating system. I have Malwarebytes Anti-Malware software installed as my anti-virus software but unfortunately it is out of date, which is likely a reason I've found myself victim of some kind of rogue or virus of the sort. Now I've done my homework and seen similar topics on this matter but please don't be so quick as to copy and paste the standard link for this problem. That standard link would be helpful if my internet wasn't messing up as a result of the malicious virus. This may sound all too familiar, but every time I try to open my anti-virus software, firewall settings, or anything of that sort, I get the same "Application cannot be executed. The file *** is infected. Do you want to activate your antivirus software now?" message. I also keep getting messages popping up from the taskbar from some bogus antivirus software. HOWEVER, that may be the least of my problems. I also keep getting a pop-up that says "Antivirus software alert---Infiltration alert---You computer is being attacked by an internet virus. It could be an internet virus. It could be a password-stealing attack, a trojan-dropper or similar." It asks if I want to block this attack and subsequently sends me to a webpage trying to get me to activate antivirus software. Furthermore, my internet works but every time I try to access a page, a different page automatically comes up saying "Internet Explorer Warning-visiting this web site may harm your computer!" I know this is due to the virus, though, because all of the links on said web page go to the same site trying to get me to purchase  antispyware-guard software to "clean my computer." I can't even download tools such as Rkill and exehelper to help because the malware is blocking my access to regular web pages (I'm typing this on  a different computer). Also, random internet sites advertising pornography and *censored* keep popping up. Is it possible that I may have a rogue AND an internet virus? Can anyone PLEASE help me? And sorry to have written a novel about my problem.

Thanks for the helpful link, but there's no way for me to access this site and follow the links via the internet on my laptop since the malware is affecting my internet too and not letting me access any web sites. Maybe I should qualify my question...is there anything I can do to get around what the malware is doing to block my internet access? Then I should be able to access the links to get rid of it.

Start new topic in malware forum and let them know about your internet issue. They have ways to go around that problem.

I think you should boot and safe mode then update your anti-virus then scan,
