    « on: June 08, 2010, 08:46:05 AM »
This is a stock gateway computer gt5228, with on-board video card, I was using it and left for about 1hour and when I came back the screen was black like the power saver or screen saver had kicked in, so I moved the mouse to wake it up but nothing happen, so I turned it off and unplugged it from the power, and tryed to restart the tower lights up and makes a noise like it starting, I did not remember hearing any beep when starting, there is a light on the power button on the screen so it getting power, and a box comes up that said No signal , keyboard dose not light up, I have not change anything, what could be some things that may have happen, or what could I try to maybe get it working, thanks for any Help.

Sounds like your onboard video card craped out... try buying a new one

Check your monitor connection. Check Device Manager for any problems.

      Check your monitor connection.

The display is working - it's showing "no signal"

Check Device Manager for any problems.

How would you suggest he goes about doing that?

Open your cabinet, remove the rams, wipe it and put them back in the slot and restart your system.

A PC will not even Post without RAM.

          You are mis-informed.

How can it do that possibly if there's as you said no RAM in it ? ?

          I hold to my contention...you are mis-informed...period.

Thank again, I do have a friend that thanks he has a pci video card that he will try to find and bring it over to try before I go out and buy one to see if it will work, but it will be a few day, maybe this weekend. Is all I need to do is put in the card and try to start the computer to see if the screen come up or do I also need drivers or a program for it as well, also will clean and maybe change the Ram, I will let all you good people know how it turns out. thanks very much.
