In Win98 create a 2nd partition...i recommend a decent size partition...
Then boot to the XP CD and when it asks where to install to point it to the newly created partition...

bochs works on win98, IIRC.

http://bochs.sourceforge.net/

but, I don't know if you can run XP on it...

how would i creat a nother partition?

Only way to create a second partition would be with fdisk, and only if you have unallocated space on the drive. otherwise, you'd need to delete your first partition, which means you'd lose all data on it. Either that, or get a program like partition magic or Easeus Partition manager.

bochs works on win98, IIRC.

Windows XP has been reported to install from the CDROM, and run inside Bochs. The only known issue is to set the IPS (Instructions Per Second) to, at least, a value of 10000000.
