To be honest i dont know. I looked at the properties of the hard drive and its like the folders have been removed.  the used space before was 11.8gb  and its not 7.92gb. So its gone somewhere

See if this brings them back.......shutdown pc.....and re-boot.....hold down thew f8 key.......from the list chose the last good config from the list of options given on screen......use the arrow keys to navigate......

Unless some nasty trojan/virus/worm.....has overwritten them.......they should still be on the hard drive........
another  thing to try>SFC - System File Checker - (SFC /Scannow)

/SCANNOW
Scans all protected system files immediately.
/SCANONCE
Scans all protected system files at the next boot.
/SCANBOOT
Scans all protected system files at every boot.
/REVERT
Windows XP: Return to default settings.
Typed after the cmd prompt.

As soon as it happend i ran a virus and spyware scan
Nothing was detected.
But I think the files have been removed because of the difference in the hard drives used space as i said earlyer.

Never store important files on the same hard disk drive/partition as the operating system is installed on.
