    BlueScreenView finds nothing?
    « on: June 13, 2010, 03:42:14 PM »
I've had a couple of blue screens lately, for unknown reasons, I tried to run BSV but it always shows an empty list and at the bottom a message saying "0 crashes".

    I have an Asus G51J with Windows 7 x64.

Could it be because the program that caused the crash is on an other HDD? (all internals)

Make sure, your settings are correct.

    1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel (Start>Control Panel in Vista).
    2. Double-click System.
    3. Click (Advanced system settings link in Vista, then --->)the Advanced tab, and then click Settings under Startup and Recovery.
    4. Make sure, there is a checkmark in Write an event to the system log.
    5. In the Write debugging information list, click Small memory dump (64k) (128K in Windows 7).

Wish I had time to read. Therefore the reason for using BSV.

Done, however the only option in "Small memory dump" I had was 256Kb, I guess that will work too.

Will post update once I get another BS.

Go to System Properties - Advanced - Startup & Recovery Settings and uncheck "automatically restart". Next time the blue screen should remain up.

          Still not showing up.

I also checked, in C:\Windows, there is no "minidump" file or folder.

Go to System Properties - Advanced - Startup & Recovery Settings and uncheck "automatically restart". Next time the blue screen should remain up.

          Done.

Okay. If the blue screen does remain up, post the entire contents of the error message. If it does not remain up, it's almost certainly a hardware problem.

Have Windows CD/DVD handy (with Vista/7, most likely, you won't need it).
If System File Checker (sfc) will find any errors, it may ask you for the CD/DVD (rarely in Vista/7 case).

I have the same issue. I get around it by first hitting the STOP or Red X
following the URL line. Then when you get the message that "Navigation to the
webpage was canceled". click on the "refresh the page" message and the site
            should load.

              Running.

Meanwhile, I got two more bluescreens, the difference between the two is highlighted in red to make it easier for you guys.

Create such folder and see after next BSOD, if you have any .dmp files there.
