    when i try to connect the ethernet cable modem to the laptop it doesnt work i try to start a new connection, it asks me for password and name? On my other computer(PC) it works without asking for password, wat the heck man? I was tols it should detect IP and everything automaticaly. pls and ty. Srry i 4got to mention its windows 7 im on.

      not to sound inpatient but, could it be windows 7? i javent found anything doing google searches.

      You should not have to do anything on the client side - just plug and play. Are you using a router or a direct connection to the modem? Either way, reset the modem (and router if you have one) and reboot.

        Exactly what i thought it would be like. Its one box and it says modem. I connect ethernet to jack on laptop, turn off modem reboot laptop but nothing happens.

        You need to turn on the modem before your reboot the laptop.

          No luck :( . I really dont know wat the prob. is. Wifi works ok. Dont know why ethernet modem cable roadrunner doesnt...

            Solved it, the local area connection was turned off, i Enabled it and wizkizm! it worked.
