USB Ports making me mental
« on: July 19, 2005, 09:42:22 PM »
PLEASE HELP.
I never had a problem using Plug and Play devices when I was running Win XP & Win 98SE.  Now that I am using Win 2000 I am unable to plug my mouse into another usb port, install my webcam or printer.  I am unable to locate any of my previous driver disk.  When I plug something in then my hardware wizard tries to install a driver for my "Generic USB HUB" device.  Then I get a message stating it failed due to an installation instances or something like that.  Someone please help.

Of the devices that you are attempting to connect. Before connecting these, first install drivers.

When trying to update the "Generic USB Hub" I receive a message stating the driver update failed due to a device instance not specified for this driver" or something like that.

Apart from finding the correct drivers, I would not know what else you can try.

Why have you switched from Windows XP to Windows 2000?
