Dell Dimension 2400 Winxp reinstall
« on: June 19, 2010, 04:46:51 PM »
I did reinstall Win Xp many time without any problem in the past, but this time something is totally wrong.

It usually takes aprox. 1 hour to reinstall but this time it took 5 hours and in the end:
"13 minutes to finish install"
and it frozen and nothing happen after that, I try 5 times with same result.

Now I got used formated  HD, the Computer repairman told me that this is  as good as new.
However, I got same result.

I was prompted:
"Setup can not copy the file wmitimep.del "
also
"INF install failure.
Reason: the parameter is incorrect"
then
13 minutes to finish install.
and froze.

Then I chaged RAM, but no improvement.

I am quite sure Dell Win Xp Cd is in great shape.

I think its Virus, or cracker might have changed or left malware in My computer.

What could be the reason that causes this problem, and what can I do to solve this?

Clean the CD.
Try swapping in a known good CD drive.

    Hi,

Try completely formatting your Hard Drive and reinstall the operating system. If this does not work then try to replace the CD ROM, as you have mentioned the system was unable to copy "wmitimep.del" file. Seems the CD ROM you are tring to install from has some scratches.

    Hope this works.
