Now you're confused. a Hard drive is not "memory" I'm pretty sure memory is always solid state.... and also what about SRAM? (Static-RAM) it's used for most CPU caches because of it's speed but you would hardly compare it to a HDD.

I was simply pointing towards the fact HDD keeps the data even without power, RAM of course does not sorry for the confusion.

no idea he says he used up all his GB on photos but deleted them all and it still says full

im thinking his recycle bin is still full who knows a few deletes and a defrag/*censored* scan should do the trick these people dont like to mess with their computers it hurts their brains lol

when you hibernate your computer, the current session is stored into hard drive so it can be rebooted when computer is waked up.

Is the hard drive being used as 'memory' in this case???

No, it is relieving the RAM of its information so that the machine may be switched off and the power supply cut off for transport or if a storm is coming if you have lots of programs/files open that would take time to re-open if you shut down.

It just copies the data back into RAM when you 'resume' windows.

I live in  an area where thunderstorms pop up unexpectedly all through the year, especially in the summer but even in the winter.  I really don't want to unplug my PC every time I leave the house.

I hope you stay with CH to learn more about computers (we all learn something everyday, or at least hopefully we do), but from your posts I get the feeling that you are not ready to start charging people to work on their computers.

I would have to agree with this. You haven't even looked at the computer yourself yet and you are already here asking what could be wrong. You say this is a "customer" but I sure hope you aren't really going to charge them.

Considering i am at my Computer Course at the moment, and i am studying to become a computer technician. That's not Fair! I am turning 17 in 17 days... (ironic?  )

Also how am i meant to proove it?

I have built 3 computers and I manage about 10-15. People call upon me to fix thier computers, only because i'm cheap and effective.

If you want a written reference that I recently recieved, then I can post that, but i am hoping that you will trust me.
