Vista Corrupt Registry

One day, I turned on my HP, Vista Home Premium laptop and i would not boot. I ran the Vista Restore Wizard three times. The Third time a message appeared that said the computer could not fix the problem. I said that I had a corrupt registry. I have backups of the registry on the computer and the computer will boot into Ubuntu off a disk and run fine. I just need to restore my registry from one of these backups, but how

How did you backup the registry ? ?

If you have Vista DVD...

If you don't have Vista DVD...

1. Create Vista Recovery Disc.

Option 1:

Download Vista Recovery Disc iso image: http://neosmart.net/blog/2008/windows-vista-recovery-disc-download/
Burn it to CD, or DVD: http://neosmart.net/wiki/display/G/Burning+ISO+Images+to+a+CD+or+DVD

2. Boot from created disk.
At first screen click on Repair your computer:

This will bring you to a new screen where the repair process will look for all Windows Vista installations on your computer. When done you will be presented with the System Recovery Options dialog box:

After this, it will present you with a list of options including startup repair, system restore and command prompt:

Try System Restore, first.
If that doesn't work, try Startup Repair.

I use CCleaner every once in a while. I used the built in registry backup feature.

If i reinstall vista, will I lose all of my files and programs? If I will lose my programs, is there a way to get them back. I do not want to have to buy Microsoft Office again.

Nobody suggested a reinstall. Broni has suggest System restore and then startup repair.

I was just saying if i were to reinstall, would i lose programs and files. I think that changing to xp or windows 7 might be a good idea.

Sorry I have not gotten back to you guys for a while. I was very busy with camp.

Unfortunately, I have no system restore points. I was also unclear to begin with. (which was completely my fault) I had tried the Startup Repair three times, the computer cannot fix itself. It says that i have a corrupt registry.

Sorry but i believe if you follow Bronis instructions above you will no longer get that error message...

I need to post multiple images, and they are over 700k in total, so I am posting them in three messages. The first picture is part of the error, the second is the rest of the error, and the third is the system restore.
The rest of the error is a link to Microsoft's privacy statement, so i did not bother scrolling down.

Do you have Vista DVD?

No    Only the recovery disk you told me to create. Although, I believe that my computer has a recovery partition that will let me reinstall the OS. In that case would it be easier just to get windows 7?
