    Selecting a modem

Hi I'm new to your forum.  but I have an interesting question!
I own a Dell Dimensions 521 Computer with AMD 64 and windows Vista.
Last year my computer when turned on went right to Energy power save.
I just took her in to get her fixed and found out that I need a new mother board.  The computer has hardly been used so I am get a new mother board for her.  Now my question is when I get her home which modem should i get for internet access from my cable company?

Your cable company can furnish one for you but there will be a monthly fee.  If it fails the cable company will generally replace it for free assuming normal use.

If you decide to buy one, I would find out what brand your cable system uses and be inclined to buy that brand.  Otherwise, Motorola is a safe choice.

You just need to check modem prices versus the cable systems fees and see which way you want to go.
