Graphics Minimal!

I restarted my computer because of some updates, and now my screen is 640x480 and 16 colors.  I can't change it.  Troubleshooters don't help.  I am running WinXP Home SP3.  Another suspicious thing is that I found my firewall turned off, port 80 opened completely, and my antivirus's real-time shields turned off.  I quickly corrected these, but the graphics still look ugly. Help!

It's a firewall, and it's among the best software firewalls available.

EDIT: I can now change my resolution to 800x600, but any higher or a color change and it resets to 640x480, 4bit.

Never mind!  I remember earlier I had opened port 80 (not a good idea) and my sister had been fooling with my open antivirus control.  My Windows Firewall occasionally turns itself off. (?) The graphics problem was caused by a faulty driver which I have rolled back.

Your internet connection and how it may be being abused have nothing to do with the video issues...
But it sounds like you've figured that part out...
