    Beeping noises, won't boot.
    « on: July 22, 2010, 05:26:50 AM »
Hi. My friend has an HP Pavillion A 305W desktop.
She went to start it this am, and it started beeping constantly(too fast to count), and a screen came up
    which said among other things

error 02B0, disk drive A error.

She does not use this disc drive.

I tried going into the bios.  Removable discs was set up as a booting option, I changed this to
Hard drive, saved it, but it didnt take. The second time I tried it, a black screen came up, with white
lines down the bottom, then went to the windows sign in page. I went to sign in my friends password, and was unable to do it. I clicked on icon and it flashed quickly.

The keyboard and mouse appear to work fine.

This computer has been riddled with viruses.  It worked ok yest am, then her husband went on last nite,
and this morning, it's messed up.

Any ideas on what could be happening? Why arent my setup values being saved in the Bios?
Thanks for any help in advance.
