Buy an iMac. O_O
« on: July 22, 2010, 07:01:37 PM »
I'm thinking about Buying an iMac, and I have a feeling I may have been mis-instructed and mis-directed to Apple's computers because they claim they are "better than PC's".

I also have been mislead to beliveing that they have "better hardware" and with Bootcamp installed It will probably perform 'better'.

I don't know what to believe, since people are liars...

Can you guys help me out?

I mean, should I buy an iMac or keep my Good PC?

I seem to have been dragged into buying Apple's products forcefully because of the nature of their ads, their misleading theories, and what they said about the Mac.

Now, I know what your thinking- Troll.

Actually not, more like a "help me I think I've been lied to" kind of thread..

I do not know what to do, should I get a Mac? Is the Mac a Lie? are Apple's stories lies?
If I get a mac, use Bootcamp to install Windows on it, dual boot it and run Windows games, will there be any Performance increase?

Will usage on a Apple computer be better?

I think so.
Or so I've been told.

Anyways, I need you guys (all of you guys's (and girls)) help in helping me decide what to buy.

I can get a Windows 7 laptop, and save some $$$, or I can get a Apple iMac or Macbook Pro, and save some ERROR's and crashes.

...When you could have switched to Mac but instead you stuck with PC and now your Yoga stabling is all screwed up!

It's true I really do LOVE Mac, and when it comes to the facts, yes I think I can believe Windows sucks.
And PC's are good machines, its just MicroSoft's Operating systems are kind of not very... erm, good I guess...
Instead of Illegally using Mac on a Windows PC I could get a Mac and use Windows, Mac, and Linux (variants)!

So what should I do?

Can someone help me decide?  ??? ??? ???

I'm stuck and I got money to spend.

Moderators may remove big smiley, sorry about it.  ::)

I think you got one.  It may not have been the one you were looking for, but it was an honest opinion.

This is a support forum, not a chat room. If you want quick replies go somewhere else. If you want intelligent replies, ask intelligent questions. You are starting to become quite annoying.

You keep talking about 'Macs misleading Ads' and 'Mac's lie'

First, really?

Second, seriously???

Everyone here knows I was heavily against Apple up to a few months ago when I actually got to try one. Loved it and bought a Macbook Pro 15" for myself.

I'm lovin' it!

Yes, Now I just got a Macbook, and, seemingly Unbelievably, I love it!
I haven't yelled at it even once, I only banged on the table (once)!! only because your site was slow. I didn't even get mad at the computer like i do with Windows! Simply incredible!

It's funny, it feels like I'm being hypnotized by Apple to love Mac products! :D O:)

I don't remember the last time I've yelled at Windows. Usually it's just a program running on Windows. Maybe if there weren't such a huge pool of software (and potentially malware or poorly written software) for Windows it would be viewed as more reliable.

Yelling at a machine is a sign of immaturity and/or stupidity, isn't it?

I'm pretty sure it's a sign of frustration, actually. :P

I yelled at my older computer, quite a lot. It had absolutely nothing to do with windows or anything PC-centric, it just froze solid. (before anybody says it, any Linux distro of the time would have done the same thing). turns out it was a bad sector and the hard drive controller itself was no longer responding, which meant the system froze solid. a scandisk (win98 at the time) with a surface scan solved the problem, though.

Then my monitor started to go. Most of the "abuse" it got was physical (the monitor's vertical magnets were shot so it displayed everything in a single pixel high line in the middle, but, if I smacked it fast and hard enough I could get it to stick at normal size.

When it stopped responding to that I just threw it out of the 3rd story apartment I was in. That was satisfying. I sort of wished I had more broken stuff so I could throw it out the window and watch the satisfying explosion of plastic and silicon. I had to work from my laptop for a while after that until I got a new monitor, heh.

I didn't even yell at anything when I lost every single one of my newest programming projects that I had been working on (from File Libraries to toolbar controls to menustrip controls to a full-featured text editor), and the Expression Evaluator I had at the time. I just said "crap" in a normal volume and worked for the next 9 hours rewriting one of them. I've since only reconstituted a small fraction of those lost projects, but those that I have are a lot better then they were.

In fact I think the computer that I yelled at most ever would have to be a Original iMac I once used. I think I cursed most loudly the fact that nobody ever seemed to release a mac version of anything that was worthwhile. That is still far more true then many people would like to think, wether it be for better (less malware) or worse (you want to play the latest games on the mac? HAHAHA)

I was trying to dereference Null Pointers before it was cool.

Hi
I want to buy a new machine. I have always used PCs at home, work.

I am now toying with the idea, that may be I should get myself an iMac. I guess what's holding me back is I don't know anything about Macs, never used them. As a result I am unable to evaluate the specifications .

Also, is it difficult to do upgrades to memory, hard disk extra once I buy it.

So is it better to get a PC or an iMac?
Thanks.
