CCleaner comes highly recommended. http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/

1) Do NOT use any registry cleaners (ccleaner is pretty benign).
2) Empty the Temporary Internet Files Folder.
3) Disable System Restoer (NOTE: All restore points will be immediately deleted)
4) Empty the Temp Folder
5) Limit the space used by Temporary Internet Files if necessary
6) Limit the space used by System Restore
7) Empty the Recycle Bin
8) Run a full system scan with BOTH your antivirus utility AND MalwareBytes

You can try ATF-Cleaner, http://www.atribune.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=25&Itemid=25

It can delete both Windows Temp and recycle bin, also clean Firefox, Opera browser.

I'd been using cc cleaner for years now. Based from my experience this free computer program is highly useful. It has never failed to keep my computer in good running condition. Plus it helps me effectively utilize valuable amount of my hard disk space. :)

Can anyone tell me why people want to clean there registry? It wont go any slower because you have keys the computer don't read, also it wont make up so much space, the keys is like 250 byte or even less.

So I don't really get it.

You're quite right. There is zero reason for anybody to ever "clean" their registry, since there is no such thing as a "clean" registry to begin with (since "clean" implies that there can be a "dirty" registry, except having a "dirty" registry would mean that a good number of registry keys/values are "dirty" but what the heck is a "dirty registry key" or "dirty registry value"? There is no such thing. And those programs that "clean" the registry all have a different definition of what a "dirty" key/value is, and most of them even go so far as to claim that there are "errors" as well, which is pure bollocks. (well, not truly, since you <can> have registry errors, but when you do, you get a blue screen, not "reduced system performance" as many programs seem to claim).

that's what i thought....

Quote
Mark Russinovich of Microsoft wrote that "Even if the registry was massively bloated there would be little impact on the performance of anything other than exhaustive searches." This is not to say that the actual cleaning is bad, but it does seem pointless. If your machine has reached a point where the registry file is what is holding it back, it's time for a fresh installation of the operating system.

The fact is that there are MANY, MANY reported problems on support forums that relate directly to the use of registry "cleaners". As I've said, there are some that are very dangerous (they will delete important entries and the user won't know enough not to allow the deletion, etc) and there are some that are pretty benign, but NONE of them do anything that will help your system in any way, shape or form.
