canot use you tube downloader

I am positive this is from a windows update, but don't know how to fix it. I cannot use my you tube downloader anymore, I just get this (download error http error response 404 not found) I did some research, and understand it is an update, but how do I find a patch for it?

keep-tube.com or keepvid.com can download youtube videos for you.

but in anyway, what youtube downloader are you using?

I find keep-tube the best as it shows you all available qualities and gives you the option of a lightweight flv file or a better quality mp4.

keep-vid does exactly the same. and best of all, you do not need to install any software to your computer nor do you need to add any extensions/add-ons to your browser

I doubt anyone else is going to respond because depending on the usage of this Youtube-Downloader it could be illegal. So for best sakes i doubt anyone else will help you. If it is not illegal then, i am wrong.

OH for heaven's sake, it is not Illegeal.... There are a lot of you tube downloaders, I just like this one the best. Everyone use it and it and it is fine.  They are coming out with an updated version, so have to wait till they fix the problem with this version..

You said it yourself. Depending on the usage. And the law in your country. Depending on where you live, it may be either a civil or criminal offence ("offense" in US-speak) to download, from Youtube, copyright material that has not been placed in the public domain.

It is certainly not any kind of offence to download any of the large amount of material that has been placed there deliverately to be viewed or downloaded.

The best policy when asking questions about such software is to NOT mention any copyright material specifically. Then everybody is happy.

Just think of the moral aspect of taking something that's not yours..does it seem right just because you can?  Youtube changes things to protect others work so downloads are harder to do. You can argue that hey people post vids they don't own in violation of copyright but they are also wrong in doing so.

This is a simple right and wrong issue...remember the first thing you learned as a kid?

Theft can not be justified in any way. (including illegal torrents)

Two points.

Marjorie, unless I missed it you never said what downloader you are using.  The two ones mentioned both work fine.  Maybe you need to uninstall it and reinstall the one you have now.

Second, all videos uploaded to Youtube are automatically copyrighted even if no paper work is ever filed.  However, someone who shoots a video of their cat playing in a box is not usually expecting to make any money off it and it will be fine to download.

Clips from movies or TV shows are a totally different story.  Somewhere in the beginning or end of movies and TV shows they will have language that prohibits copying the video for distribution.  Clips like these are illegal to upload, and just as illegal to download.

I am going to ignore the posts here that talk about "theft", Illegeal usage" and so on, it is just plain ridiculous. Please if someone posts a legitimate question here, do not give your stupid opinions. If you don't have an answer, then don't post such silly stuff. 

As to the question of which  one I am using, it is just called you tube downloader by altervista.org.  I did check their site and they say they are coming out with a newer version and they are aware of problems with this one. I am hoping they can fix this issue as I use it a lot...

The vast majority of Youtube clips are fine to download but you might want to read this article before you get too upset.  There are a lot of gray areas involved.
