    « on: July 29, 2010, 01:57:16 AM »
    Hello There! :)

Can anyone please apprise me on a 'Free' & ofcourse an easy way to merge & split .pdf files?

Currently, I rely on PDFCreator that adds a virtual printer to accomplish this task.

    Any inputs? ::)

I agree with http://www.pdfsam.org/.  I've used it and found it can do the job.

        Hi Meta & Soybean!

PDFsam is intended for Linux users & not for Windows!

Check out the FAQs thoroughly & you'll find the same. ;D

Check the download page and you'll see otherwise. namely, a win32 installer.

Now why would a "linux only" program have a win32 installer?

Second, It's written in Java, so it's essentially cross platform out of the box anyway.

Lastly: I can find nowhere in your original post where you said "for windows" so I find it curious where this requirement appeared.
I was trying to dereference Null Pointers before it was cool.

Perhaps it's time for an eye exam, Saurabhdua.  The FAQ page definitely does not say PDFsam is intended for Linux.  The only trace of reference to operating systems on the FAQ page is this:

        How to run the console?

in “bin” subdirectory there’s a bat script for win32 and a sh script *nix systems.

And, that statement implies it works Windows AND Linux.  Besides, I would have stated it only works with Linux if that were the case.

          Yes..Yes..Time for Confession, seriously! :'(

          My Mistake.  :-[

Soybean, I do wear spectacles already & perhaps yes, time has come for an another eye scan ;D

Actually, I saw this entry of PDFsam within Ubuntu's 'ADD/REMOVE Programs' & hence that bragging.

I'll remain watchful. Thanks for help. ;)

Ubuntu does not have 'ADD/REMOVE Programs'.  It has Synaptic Package Manager.   :P

But, you're right about PDFsam being available in Ubuntu; I found it in Synaptic Package Manager.

            Hi Soybean, :)

Iam using Ubuntu 9.04 & it does have ADD/REMOVE under Applications Menu.

You must be using the higher version like 9.10 or 10.04. I know that 10.04 is surely devoid of that choice.

10.04(Lucid Lynx) was posing graphics issue with my Config. & hence I made a rollback to 9.04.
