Turn of IE

How do I turn of ie. if I go into IE and put the 0.0.0.0 in the address box and 80 in the other in lan settings my computer wont open pages bcos it cant find the proxy server address. I use firefox and that has no problem, although I  did change my sever recently to the google server. Does anyone know a way round this

How to turn off IE?  Well, I'm not sure what you mean by turn off.  If you don't want to use IE, then simply don't use it.  Make Firefox or some other browser your default browser and be done with all this.

Thanks for reply, wht i was tryin to say was i read on compter hope that to disable IE you had to go into IE settigs tools>options>lan settings and in address box put 0.0.0.0 and in the othr box 80 and this would disable IE, BUT WHEN I DID THIS MY FIREFOX pages wouldnt load because it couldnt find my server address (proxy server as i changed over to google server. seems like IE has a finger in every pie)

As was stated above, if you don't want to use IE don't use it. End of problem.

But it still seems to be running in the back ground some how When i open task manager i have 3 IE exe running in processes which is a bit worrying as i dont use it. As i say ive tried to disable it by using the procedure i told you about, but firefox wouldnt load pages when i did that.the IE tab is no where to be seen on my 'concious' desktop, but it must be still lurkin underneath somehow.

Internet Explorer should not be "running in the backgroung" if it is not open. You should scan your system for malware with both your antivirus utility and MalwareBytes.

Could it be that you are confusing internet explorer with explorer?

Explorer is a basic part of windows that has nothing to do with IE and it will always be running, but only one copy.  If that is the case there shouldn't ever be three copies of it running.

AFAIK there is always at least one Explorer process running, then one for each Explorer window you have open.
