Wondering about SATA
« on: July 25, 2005, 01:17:59 PM »
So I'm thinking about getting a 10,000 RPM hard drive without going SCSI. That basically means a WD Raptor. Anyway, what I'm confused about is the difference between SATA-150 and SATA-II? Because the Raptor uses SATA-150 and my mobo has connections for SATA-II. I've never used Serial ATA before, so I don't know much about it. Any HDD whizzes out there?

Okay, thanks for that. The connectors on my mobo should be backwards compatible with the WD Raptor then.

Do remember that you require special drivers on a storage medium when installing Windows XP on SATA HDDs. These drivers should be delivered with the HDD and will be refered to as SCSI drives during the installation of Windows XP.
