    reg: system properties

    i just reinstalled windowsXP os in my desktop installation went fine..... after installation when i checked for system properties.. it showing following error msg:

    "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer."

    i even googled am getting only if problem with control panel or outlook or internet exp... not for system properties( just right click on desktop and go to properties)....

    please help me if anyone know's this problem...

    What version XP?
    Did you do a format before the reinstall?

    When the reinstall was done did you check to be sure you were an administrator on the machine?

    Is this machine a stand alone or part of a domain?

        I find out root cause... XP was installing from external drive and virus in this drive cause this problem..

        It was standalone system and winXP SP2
