Minised pages dissappears from task bar

Hi,
I need help retrieving minised pages from the task bar. I have windows XP,1985-2001. I noticed the problem a few days back, and really slows down working with the system because I have go all over to open up a page that I would just have maximised.

I can't tell much from your description. Please upload a screen shot of the problem so we can see what might be the problem.

Press the PrintScr SysReq or similar key on your keyboard. It is near the scroll lock key. I can't tell you the exact key name because I am on a mac now.

Open paint.

Paste and you will see your computer screen inside paint.

Save the file.

Upload it to this forum (when you start a new post you will see Additional Options at the bottom). Choose file and upload the image.

 Thanks for the reply. I' ve used the key and nothing shows on my screen, probably not using the key correctly. Let me try to explain more; I am working with word and at the same time surfing the web, if I minise the word document to have a full screen of any web page means I have completely lost the word document. To open the document I have to back to programmes because I can not maximise the page. If I minise the current page to use the word icon on my desktop, means losing the current page as well. I am not able to open my mail and also maintain communication with this forum. It just have to be one task at a time.

A simple solution for you may be to use the Alt+Tab keys. This will allow you to switch between windows if the taskbar is messed up somehow.

If you are still determined to find the real solution to the problem then please follow this more detailed version of the steps I posted before (this will allow you to upload a picture of your screen).

I' ve used the key and nothing shows on my screen, probably not using the key correctly.

Nothing should show up when you press the key. That's why you have to open paint and paste it in.

Here's what you should do:

1) Press the PrintScreen key
2) Click start->all programs->accessories->paint
3) Press Ctrl+V
You will now see your screen inside of paint
4) File->Save As
5) Login to this site and post new message
6) Click additional options under the message field
7) Browse
Find the file you saved

I don't mean to sound condecending here, if you already know how to do this stuff.

Next time it happens to me, I'll post a screenshot of my screen.

Alt-Tab is too much of a pain to go through 20+ apps, so I use Task Manager and select thw window from there.

Do you really have 20+ apps open?  Are we talking Word, Excel, etc. or a bunch of small apps?  How much RAM do you have?

I've never had that problem unless I do something stupid, (which has been known to happen).  I'd like to have a dollar for every time I've hit the X instead of the _.

Also, you list your OS as Sun, but you're in the XP forum, please clarify.

Its only 12 apps, but about 25 windows. I use Solaris on my home servers, but I have to use XP on the company laptop (its a dual 2.2GHz CPU lenovo with 2GB RAM).

Here's an example of where Mozilla disappeared from the task bar. You can see it in task manager, but there's no sign of it on the task bar (BTW the quick launch button at the bottom left won't restore Mozilla, it just starts a new window)

Does this happen with only 1 window open or does it only happen after you have a certain amount of windows open?

scan ur system with antivirus , kill any suspicious process, clean up ur registry using some registry cleaner reg in out may solve the issue

One thing I didn't see anybody ask (sorry if I missed it)...

Is your taskbar actually visible and can you see all of the minimized windows in the taskbar?

Download and run that vbs and see if that fixes it.
