Mozilla Firefox Java issue
« on: September 04, 2010, 06:51:37 AM »
Hi chaps,
Need to ask as this is driving me crazy. When I use FF to access the back end of my site and attempt to add HTML to an article the HTML button (Java) will not work, and after attempting that a few times the bookmarks toolbar at the top no longer works as well.

I have tried re-installing Java on my computer to no avail and all 'add-ons' for Java on FF are active. Short of uninstalling FF and starting again I'm at a loss.

Help always appreciated and thanks in advance.

No sarcasm and if you think that then this could take for ever.

If it takes forever it's because you refuse to answer even the simplest questions about your problem that have now been asked twice.

What do you expect? somebody to say "oh so and so checkbox is unchecked, here's how you check it!" and give you instructions? We don't even know what <version> of joomla you're using. While you're at it you might want to mention your browser version, and is the "bookmarks" toolbar the one that is part of FF, or is it a Joomla thing? And how does it "not work"? What is is supposed do to, and how is it different from what it actually does?

I use the the latest version of Joomla 1.5.15.

Well as your not the one asking then I wonder why you are jumping in with your 2 pennies worth.

Why do you feel the need to jump on the back of any of my threads and start pulling apart my posts? A simple can you tell us.....   would be sufficient, not beating me over the head with my lack of knowledge.

But as you ask I use FF ver: 2.6.8 and the bookmarks are obviously from FF not Joomla.

And as in 'not work' I mean they don't work, aka not working as in they do nothing as in do not conform to required function as in you click them and they do nothing

Feel free to offer your next torrent of post pulling apart opinion in your reply.

As always thanks in advance for constructive help.

When I tried last to add HTML I used IE as that seemed to work fine. Not tried with chrome but I do have it.

Thanks for the help.

curious. Seems like an FF issue (duh, heh). All I can think is maybe trying Firefox 3.6.

oh, ok :P

odd how it works in other browsers.  Might be some addon conflicting, can you use the button when you start FF in safe mode?

This is the thing, it works in general as in (bookmarks). But if I click on the 'add HTML' button on Joomla (which still does not work) then the bookmarks stop working. The only way to go to a site then is to manually add the URL.
Will have a go at safe mode but I'm leaning toward an add-on conflict
