Problem Watching Videos in Firefox and Internet Explorer
    « on: September 25, 2010, 11:55:05 PM »
    Hello!

I have a problem...my Dell Inspiron laptop is in the habit of suddenly refusing to play videos on Youtube, Google Video, or any other site.  And by suddenly, I mean that I will be able to watch videos absolutely fine for a while, but then (i.e. if I open up a different video or pause the current video and then try to resume it) the video will not work...and after that one instance, no videos will work.  If I am using Firefox, it says that the Adobe Flash Plugin has crashed after 45 seconds.  If I am on IE, the entire page just freezes when I try to watch any video.  If I shut my computer down for a while and then return, I will be able to watch videos for a while, but then they stop working again.  This has happened two nights in a row.  What can I do?

I have tried: Switching browsers, making sure my Flash player is up-to-date, making sure my browsers are up-to-date

Have this been going on just recently or for how long?
      Any added/downloaded software recently?
Have you check your Manage add-ons if Shockwave Flash Object is enabled and its version?

This has just been going on recently; within the last week, I think.  The last thing I downloaded was Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, but the problem occured before I downloaded it.  I'm not familiar with Manage Add-Ons; I searched for it and opened it up, but I don't see Shockwave Flash Object listed anywhere.

Ah, okay...under Manage Internet Explorer Add-Ons (Toolbars and Extensions), I don't see anything Shockwave.
Under Plugins in my Firefox Add-Ons, I have:

          Shockwave Flash 10.1.82.76
          Shockwave Flash 10. r82

          and

          Shockwave for Director 11.5.8.612  ???

          They are both enabled.

Sorry to post a new reply, for I don't see the "Edit" button anywhere...?....but I don't mean to bump.

Haven't been having the problem at all lately; don't know what was going on, but videos are working fine consistently now.  Will call it case closed.  :)
