    run up and paging speed
    « on: October 06, 2010, 11:10:35 AM »
I recently had a crash of my PC and had to replace the hard drive. My repair service upgraded my hard drive from 80 to 160. I am running a Celeron CPU 2.7 and 1.2 Ram.

Since the repair , my run up time and time to page to page , and click to links, has increased quite a bit.

Are these two things related ?
I have run my Avast full addition, and Malwarebytes free addition, and show no problems.

What steps can I take to speed up .

    Thanks in advance

Are you talking about your internet being slow? If your internet is slower, it's probably your service provider. If you think it's part of the upgrade, then have you tried the following?

    Defrag
    CCleaner
    Unchecking startup items in msconfig
    Ending some services
    Google chrome
    Firefox

If you need any help with any of these, just post.

    1) DO NOT use msconfig to permanently prevent processes from starting. Use a dedicated app such as Mike Lin's Startup Control Panel (http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml)

    2) DO NOT mess with Services unless you are 100% certain you know what you are doing

Please explain your problem(s) in detail so we can provide relevant advice.
