    « on: October 17, 2010, 05:19:38 PM »
    Hi all,

im havign trouble with installing win7. I have installed it right through, there is no sound, so i installed an audio driver then restarted the computer, a black screen appears and i cannot go any further. I reboot and press F8 so that i can disable the driver signature just to get back to the desktop but then it start the repairing and then restarts and comes up with a black screen and still cannot go any further.

Where did Win 7 DVD come from?
    Upgrade, or clean install?

If it's brand new Win 7 DVD, then I suspect some hardware problem.
We need more info about the computer, you try to install Win 7 on.
Is it new computer, or some older one?
What OS was installed on it before?
Did you have any problems with previous Windows version?
        Etc., etc.

          Huh?

          This:
          http://www.microsoft.com/student/discounts/itsnotcheating/default.aspx

Reboot in Safe Mode (jam on F8 while starting up).

          Remove the suspect audio driver.

Download the latest driver from your motherboard manufacturer's website.  Try installing that and see if it still gives you trouble.

Part of the problem is most people don't generally deal with computer problems. So for most they think that close enough is good enough.
