« on: June 21, 2004, 07:56:20 AM »
I was wondering how u would know if i had a bad stick of RAM? Just wondering because i have a Lexmark z12 printer and cant print anything out because i have a low memory thing pop up...  :-/ and it says to close other application or something like that.. no i dont have that many other apps runing ,but i still get it,so ,i'm thinkin bad ram stick :o
Im running an old Gateway, windows 98
Things that are running in startup........

Taskbar Display Controls
SystemTray
Multi-function Keyboard
LoadPowerProfile
IgfxTray
HotKeysCmds
GoBack Polling Service
LoadPowerProfile
SchedulingAgent
Webshots
Theres a bunch of other stuff there, but i dont have the box checked for them..(finding this out by the msconfig thing ), now is there anyway to get that stuff i dont use out of the start up box also?
Thanks

First.. get rid of webshots.  It's a resource hog.  How much ram do you have?  You failed to mention any system specs at all.  If your system says you have less ram than what's in your box then you can start poking around.  I don't advocate spanking but really.. what else can you do with bad ram?

Did you recently install new software when this started happening?

the only thing i can think off is a mcaffee antivirus thing that has given me problems yet to be solved..thought it may have screwed up a port but it might have screwed up the printer too?
I have since uninstalled it , but from reading about it , theres some things it does to an autoexec.bat file or something..
but other than that nothing new, that comes to mind..
Just uninstalled webshots ,lets see if that does anything............
