Well since you can still use safemode? try this...
Bootup in Safe Mode.
Start > All Programs > Accessories > 'Command Prompt' right click and Select Run as 'Administrator'.
Type or copy the command:
SET DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES=1
This forces the invisible old drivers to reveal themselves in the device manager (optional).
Type or copy the command:
devmgmt.msc
This will open the device manager.
In the Device Manager, go to View enable Show hidden devices.
From the list, right click on the inactive device you wish to remove and select Uninstall to remove the driver (this will help clean up).
Look for any unknown devices (yellow question-mark).
Find under 'Display Adapters' your graphic driver and 'Monitors' the display drivers - uninstall them.
Windows will then attempt to reinstall the drivers again, reboot and see if you can now install the correct graphics driver.
