hard drive issues

I have a dell D600... It was working fine and then froze up...Tried to reboot and now all it says it

 "Primary hard disk drive 0 found
no bootable devices
And it makes alot of noise when it tries to reboot...

    try another hard disk when it works. know your hard disk is crashed.
    or put the hard disk on working machine. whatever happens get back to me

    Download the hd utility from the hd manufacturer's website and run it.

      When you say alot of noise, what do you mean? Does it sound like the mechanisms inside are struggling? Is it making a clunking noise?

      Have you dropped it atall?

      Harddrives rarely fail for a hardware issue unless dropped/wear and tear. How old is the harddrive?
