error message.constant pop up..

 ::)HELP. I have an Acer Aspire running on windows vista 32bit..and up to a few days ago all was well..then I upgraded my AVG anti-virus.& my computer displayed popup message ( c/windows/system32/AVGrsstx.dll  not designed to runon windows or contains an error)  AVG picked this up and displayed this message ( file signed with a broken digital signature)..since then I uninstalled AVG and instead I Installed Avast...hoping this would remedy the problem, but didnt..I then downloaded  malwarebytes and ran scans. nothing picked up... The popups are still happening..what i cant understand is why AVG.is still mentioned in error message.. now its been removed...from my computer..all help welcome..

A file can be named anything, I could name a virus 'mickeymouse.exe' but it does not mean it has anything to do with 'mickey mouse'

It is a virus, to be exact a trojan.

How did you remove it?

As I am new on here.please excuse me if I made a mistake in posting in the wrong forum..Your advice was welcome..but it refers to windows XP & my computer runs on VISTA.could you clarify if the advice is for both.? also I have anti-virus & anti malware installed already..I also checked in programmes nothing suspicous their..

If you have Vista then the XP advice does not apply to you.

Follow the instructions given by Allan. Your computer is infected.

yes I understand what you have said,,,Reddevilggg... but the instructions that Allen as given me are for XP & I have VISTA...

The instruction are not for XP, they are for anyone.

The only reference to XP is when it states '....IF you have XP then make sure......'     

IF, you havn't, so that portion of the text does not apply, just follow the rest of the instructions.

Possibly, you have some AVG leftovers, which in case of AVG is "normal".
