Nvidia Driver stopped responding and has sucessfully recovered.
    « on: November 26, 2010, 04:58:28 PM »
Display driver Nvidia windows kernal mode driver version 260.99 stopped responding and has successfully recovered.

That is the full name of the error I receive when i play video games. Do you know the solution to this problem which causes my computer to freeze, go black screen, flicker, and go back to normal?

There are known issues with some cards & some games.  Consult the Readme with the drive files or, http://forums.nvidia.com/

You can try to reinstall video driver, but from my experience, "stopped responding and has successfully recovered" error, usually means falling card.

I've already tried reinstall the drivers and using driver sweeper.

So you suggest that this could also be because of a failing faulty graphics card?

      That's what I'd say.

What im using is a MSI 260 GTX Twin Frozr Video card.

Is this a manufacturer problem or is it my problem so I cant have it replaced?

Do I Contact Nvidia or the MSI company that made the card?

It depends on what is under warranty, a whole computer, or just the card.

        ?

Did you have these issues playing the same game/s before?
Minimum Power supply requirement for your card is 500 Watts... Flickering could also point to these issues. PSU could also be an issue if it is still up to its condition.
Have you tried running on minimum settings on your control panel first while playing?
Or used Roll Back Driver for the video adapter on your Device Manager?

As Jason2074 pointed out, that card requires some serious power.  MSI website does not specify.

nVidia makes the graphics chip, MSI make the graphics card.

Requires at least a 500W PSU...

Report says +12V is 10.912 V.  If true, it's out of spec & indicates too much load.
What does label say on PSU for 12V power?  Wattage means nothing, 12V power is the critical value.  There probably is +12V1 & +12V2, which would indicate 2 rails.  Add the Amps together, multiply by 12 & that's your available power.  Virtually the entire computer runs on 12V.  Do you have 40A of 12V on the PSU?

              +5v=17A
              +3.3V=24A
              Max Output 140Watts

              +12V1=32A
              +12V2=24A
              547 Watts

              -12V=0.5A
              6 Watts
              +5Vsb=3A
              15 Watts

              ...+12V1=32A; +12V2=24A
              547 Watts...
This is good!  If you notice, it won't allow all the power (672W) from the 12V. some is reserved for the others.
Now let us see if it's putting out the full 12V.
              Try another monitoring tool:  http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html
Do you have a voltmeter?  Measure yellow to black on any spare molex psu connector, of course while the computer is on, so be careful not to short the probes.
