can't find music in Ipod

hi, I have a Ipod   serial number: YM8508gp3qt
Model: MB735LL
Version: 1.0.4 PC

Note:  the serial number maybe 50B not 508   too small too see lol

I'm in the ipod control  and went to the music folder , and another folder called " foo" but  when i went into it i don't see mp3 files  they look like  APEY, CCYQ, CFXV ect... i would like to back them up to my CD - R to play them on my cd player but not sure if i can even do it..... another thing, if i want to put a song in the ipod  how can i do it.
