    Multiple FireFox issues (help)
    « on: December 18, 2013, 11:38:16 AM »
I'm having MULTIPLE FireFox issues on my Windows 7 laptop.

It won't download anything at all with the general downloading thing for FireFox. It will download, stop, and won't download anymore and I will have to cancel and restart the download to get it to work.

Pages aren't loading or are loading very slowly. Most web pages are fine but for some unknown reason Google and YouTube have a tendency to load sluggishly/not at all and I have to refresh the page to get it to load.

YouTube videos aren't working at all now. The video loads fine but it just won't play and nothing happens. The Adobe plug in doesn't crash the video just doesn't play at all.

I already tried restoring my FireFox to factoring setting and it didn't work. The FireFox on my Windows Vista desktop computer is fine.

Can someone please help me with these issues and help me resolve them ASAP?

I'd really appreciate any help with this. Thank you.

Okay... um... it has to be some sort of internet/connectivity/whatever issue.

Because I can't update my MalwareBytes on my Windows 7 laptop either. It just gets stuck at 7-8% and it won't download the update.

I don't know what the problem is or how to fix it as other websites seem to load perfectly fine.

      Help?

      what happens with other browsers?

I only have FireFox on my laptop and as I mentioned downloading is an issue so I don't even know if I could get another browser.

You have IE on the system. What happens when you download with IE? And you can download a different browser (Chrome, Opera, Safari) to a different computer, copy the file to a usb drive, move it to your lalptop and install it).

Um... what about my MalwareBytes issue? I don't think this is going to solve that...

YouTube (the site) loads fine now.

However Google still loads sluggishly and MalwareBytes still isn't updating as well as YouTube video still not loading all of the way.

I really don't know what the issue is here...

Downloads aren't loading all of the way in IE either. Youtube videos aren't loading all of the way in IE either.

I can't check for malware if my MalwareBytes won't update remember?

I am NOT clogging up my laptop with SEVERAL programs just to do this.

              Isn't there any other way?

But I'm concerned because the person is seemingly telling me to get rid of items in the registry and I thought doing that was bad?

From the looks of that thread, you're problem is adware and malware. Several pieces of adware and malware Are in the log. They are infecting Firefox and Internet Explorer. The registry settings flagged for deletion are settings used for 'installing' that adware and malware. For example, the "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchScopes" key lists CLSIDs to load. If you refer to the log they contain seemingly random sequences of numbers and letters. This uniquely identifies the installed component to run for that feature. In this case, the tool has found those keys which refer to the malicious/adware DLL. Removing them effectively removes the infection, and the cleaner is likely to delete the files so having them refer to non-existent files can cause other issues.
I was trying to dereference Null Pointers before it was cool.
