    Install windows 7 into older comp

    Would like to put win 7 on my 2001 sony vaio but not sure if it is compatible with my comp and can i  back up my windows xp onto 2nd hard drive or disc.  Thx!

    According to http://www.docs.sony.com/release/specs/PCVRX741_sp.pdf, your computer supports a maximum of 1GB of RAM.  Therefore, I'd be very reluctant to upgrade it to Windows 7; I would not want to run Win 7 on a system with less than 2GB, although it will run on 1GB.  But, go ahead and run the upgrade advisor in Allan's link to get a more detailed analysis.
