Windows Security Alert can not be executed

I have a gateway windows 7 home premium lap top. Last night my computer stopped working and wont let me get on the internet or any programs on my computer. It says windows security alert  application can not be executed the file *****.exe is infected do u want to activate your antivirus software now? and then he takes me to a page where they want me to buy it and i don't want to

please help me get ride of it!
