OLD Palm Pilot vs. New HP Computer!
« on: January 13, 2011, 11:42:08 PM »
I loaded my Palm Pilot m505 software onto this new HP 2010i but it won't "hotsync"--message is "The selected port COM1 is not available at this time. HotSync Manager will open the port when it becomes available."  How do I make that happen? Where do I find this "serial port" connection so that the Palm device will speak to the Palm software?  This is incredibly frustrating and anxiety-producing...no way to back up the handheld at the moment. Thanks.

Welcome to the CH forum.

There is some detail about your post that has us confused. What kind of computer is the  HP? Is it running Vista? Many laptops no longer use serial ports, only USB.
Apparently you got your palm pilot to sync with another PC, is that right?
But now the software does not work on the new HP? Is that right?
