LED Mouse Standby

Hello all! 

I recently ordered a new mouse and keyboard combo off amazon:

Whist looking through the reviews i noticed that there was only one persistent issue with the mouse; it doesn't turn off during standby and it's pretty bright. This isn't a huge issue, but since it's a bright mouse it will be a problem when i'm trying to go to bed (My desktop is in my bedroom).

What i'm wanting is something (Preferably software) that will shut off the specific USB port that the mouse is plugged into whenever the computer goes into standby mode. I was wondering if there was any sort of software that would help me with this?

I'm using a Dell Inspiron 530s with Windows 7 Ultimate just in case.

I'm going to bed for tonight as it's pretty late for me, but i'll check this post in the morning. Thanks guys!

Don't use standby. Set your system to shut down at bedtime and turn back on in the morning. This will turn of the mouse light fully and help save electricity.

Why not just shutdown your computer overnight?

In Device Manager, for your USB hub devices, you'll want to open their properties and make sure that "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".

However, this won't be enough. Windows is "smart" enough to provide power to devices, even in sleep mode, if they are capable of waking the system, such as keyboards or mice. So in order for the mouse to be shut down during sleep, you'll have to crack open the properties for the mouse and make sure that "Allow this device to wake the computer" is unchecked.

Of course, this means you won't be able to use the mouse to wake up the computer.
