Well, as was asked above maybe a picture will help - hard to envision what you're talking about. Give safe mode a shot and see if the screen is any better. If not, my guess is you probably need a new video card or there's something wrong with the lcd screen.

More questions.
Does the OP live in an area with high temperatures?
Maye high humidity?
Has the battery ever been replaced? A failing battery may cause the symptoms.
Has the CMOS battery been replaces?
Has the Laptop been cleaned of dust and dirt?

No To The High Temps
Some Humidity But Not For A Few Months
No Been Usin The Same Battery For The Last 5 Years
Don't Know What CMOS Is So I'm Gonna Say No For This
I Clean It Out Bout Once Every Three Months
