Okay definitely burned it correctly this time. And still it would appear to not be doing anything.

Make sure the cd drive is the first device in the bios boot order, then insert the cd and reboot.

Okay I burned it correctly and I've put it into my laptop.
I mentioned the white text in my original post, well it is a copyright thing for Intel. NOW however, after the copyright thing some more text comes up say "Starting BCDW ... Ok"
Then a whole bunch of white text appears down the screen, then it suddenly goes black and goes back to the loading screen. It's now on an infinite loop, doing that over and over and over again.

I have a feeling that something is really wrong here...

Oh, and sorry about the language.

Did you change the bios boot order and insure that the cd is the first device?

Does the order of the other thing's matter?

Never mind that. I placed the CD at the top of the Boot options. It just does the same thing. Text and then re-loading on an infinite loop.

Leave everything the way it was except for the cd drive - move it to the top

It can't. If you burned the cd correctly and if you are booting to the cd, it has to start the hd diagnosis. There is no other option. When you exited bios, did you SAVE the change?

Yes I did. I think that whats happening is that the HD Diagnosis is starting but then crashing repeatedly. This has not happened at all during any other time when switching the laptop off and on, and has only started to happen when I put in the burned CD (which I am certain I burned correctly).

IF you burned the disk correct, and IF you are booting to it, and IF the diagnostic utility IS starting, then it sounds as though the hd is shot. But I'll tell you I've never heard of the diagnostic not running before.

Turn off the laptop, turn it over and take the cover off of the hard drive enclosure. Don't remove anything, just check the hd manufacturer. Let's try to use their specific utility.

I might have to give up on this for the time being, as I need to focus on preparing stuff for tomorrow. I will try and give you a heads up if I can with any developments. I might try the specific manufacturer thing, or I might just send it away as it is still under warranty. Either way, thanks a lot for the help Allan.

You're welcome and good luck. Please do keep us posted - though if it's still under warranty I'd take advantage of that.
