    XMS error in command
    « on: February 13, 2011, 11:32:18 AM »
Hello, I use Win XP SP2 installed over Win 98 SE.

When I run command I get this error (translation):
ERROR: there is an extended memory manager already installed. XMS controlled is not installed.

I checked autoexec.nt and config.nt and look ok.

    What can I do?.

    Thanks

This is when you try to run command.com? Is there some special reason why you don't want to run cmd.exe (The windows NT family command prompt - NT family being Windows NT, 2000, XP, Vista, 7)?

Try this: open Windows Explorer and navigate to the C:\Windows folder, highlight command.com, and right-click to bring up the properties. Choose compatibility mode and choose Win98.
