Do you have 'Automatic Updates' enabled in 'Services'?
      (Not Control Panel)
      Start>Settings>Control Panel>Admin Tools>Services

Did you recently do a windows authenticity check? If you have a pirated copy of windows on your system windows will shut you out of any updates and downloads. I beleive it is called WGA > check it here

          This may be your problem.
