    A Mouse Connection Issue

    I've recently bought a new computer, which runs fine except for the tendency to occasionally beep.

    The sound belongs to the "device connected/disconnected" function. At first it occurred only once every two days or so, then slowly increased in frequency, today it happened for three minutes straight. As long as the sounds runs, the mouse is unresponsive. Later I got a tablet + pen, which is unaffected by it, so I'm guessing it has something to do with the mouse connection (Logitech brand).

    I would like some advice on finding out what causes this and what to do about it.

    Running Windows 7, 4 GB RAM, Intel Core, and I'm not sure about the other technical aspects.

    Since it's a new computer, I'm guessing it's a USB mouse.  Check device manger to see if it has a problem with the mouse.  Also, have you tried a different USB port?  Do you have a different mouse you can try?

      If you are using a USB mouse, you might also want to try a different device in those ports, just to make sure that the ports aren't fried.

        Yes, it's a USB mouse. According to Device Manager, the mouse works as it should. I've tried it on two different ports. I don't have a different USB mouse, but do have the old mouse that connects to the keyboard (the left button is broken, but otherwise it works), with which the issue does not occur.

        I don't have any other USB devices save for my digital camera, which doesn't stay connected long enough for me to see whether it also has an issue.

          It shows 98mA behind the mouse and 0mA at the subset of "portals available".

          Also under Power management tab where the mouse is located under these root hubs, uncheck "Allow the computer to turn of this device to save power", click OK.

          Done.

          Also, I forgot in the last post, the tablet does have an USB connection that is perpetually connected, and doesn't have this issue.
