Computer crashing after installing memory
« on: March 01, 2011, 08:10:38 AM »
Hi

I have an Dimension c521.  I only had 1gb of RAM (2 512K).  I bought some crucial memory  (4 1gb each) and installed them into my computer.  Everything was fine at first, but 4 days later I started getting error messages telling me to remove any new hardware, and then my computer would crash.

Do you think it is the memory?  And of so, why did it take 4 days?

BTW I am running windows vista

Remove the RAM and reinstall it to make sure it's seated in the slots properly.  If it still does not run right, remove the new RAM and try your old RAM.  Let us know how it goes.

You should take precautions to avoid static electricity when working inside your computer.
