Operating system question....

I got a new laptop from an auction with no operating system. Is there a way to copy the OS from my computer at home and put it on the laptop? I'm just curious as to how to do it?

Do you mean a backup disk? I've got the instructions on how to make one from the system i got.Is this the same thing as a system install disk?

You can not do so if the laptop is connected to the Internet and you are using Windows XP.

You can create an image using a program such as Norton Ghost

Since a laptop makes use of entirely different hardware than a desktop computer, Windows will become very confused and most likely either not register or not registry the hardware installed properly resulting in reduced performance or simply no performance at all.
