Can AOL software lock up a CD drive

Friend of mine wanted to get broadband in. He rang up AOL they sent him a couple of software discs to install.

He installed it, now any disc  he inserts into the CD drive wont play.

anyone had this problem?

what could be the problem? the software, the spec of his machine (i dont know what it is), AOL are crap?

Will the drive still eject the CD? Sometimes, you have to activate autorun manually, because sometimes the computer doesn't do it by itself... AOL should have given you instructions about that... Also, yes, AOL is crap...  ;)  Around here, we call it AOHELL  ;D
